Twisted Twenty-Six
by Janet Evanovich
who would have thought that at this point the series could be a little less annoying?!
the positive:
even thought this book is still very much over the top and extreme in a -at least for me - not funny way, but this book lacked the „dear god how was this even published at this time of age?!“ extreme.
also stephanie didn’t behave completely stupid.
the plot itself was a little different this time around since it mostly circled around grandma and her dead husbands mob connection.
do not the over done and used up typical stephanie plum book overall. (still hat more then enough of those typical moments but hey, a little chance is better then nothing!)
and hey bonus?
she didnt cheat in this one!
the typical:
stephanies car explodes
lula behaved irrational and over the top stupid and dramatic
stephanie had a „what am i doing with my life and i should be doing something different“ crisis but doesn’t change anything.
stephanies apartment gets trashed and she loses at least a handful of her clothing pieces to some kind of accident.
rex the supernatural hamster is still alive
there is some kind of wake in the funeral home every day? how many people can die in a section of town before it’s actually died out in a very literal sense?!
also still the typical gun waving and greedy but completely stupid people that are behind it all as ever.
the typical stupid (aka the negative)
in this book we learned that grandma is not even 80.
and stephanies mother is under 60.
so there have been 26 books and at least 25 years since this series started.
and at the most those characters aged maybe 1 or 2 years?!
could we please not do that?
what’s so bad about getting older?!
time passes!
be happy your alive and actually have the chance to age!
why not let those characters grow older?
i mean sure plum hasn’t learned even a thing since the book series started but still aging is natural... so lets just include that on books please?!
another thing i really don’t enjoy is how stephanie is eating absolute crap and never exercises but her figure is super?
also can we just mention that it’s not at al realistic even for some as horrible as stephanie is in her job, to not have to exercise a little?
how can a bailesbond person NOT work out at least a little so that they can tackle people without getting hurt or run after them and stand a chance of actually catching them? or just generally be able to be flexible and fast enough to avoid a punch?
all in all?
not the worst book by a long shot but i wish the author would either stop writing in this series and move on to something different or finally make this series be a bit more realistic again and a bit less over the top trying to be funny but missing by a solar system.
