I will say that there are a ton of characters to keep up with and it can become confusing at times, but all in all, i loved this book so much. It takes on quite a darker turn than the first book, but I appreciate that Jesse Q. Sutanto wanted to write about and educate people on the dangers of immigrants (and vulnerable people in general) getting roped into human trafficking rings. Despite this darker turn, the core theme of Vera Wong still lies in the importance of family - blood and found. I loved all the new characters and am super interested in the dynamic between Vera and Winifred and the possible lead in for a third book set in France 🤞🤞🤞
