What did I just read? Will I never learn to read the synopsis first?

This was disappointing. Muddled.

1960’s deep woods Massachusetts girl’s school setting for this academic-rivals to vampire-lovers ‘Carmilla’ retelling.

I couldn’t connect to the characters. I wasn’t entertained by the plot. The back-and-forth POVs were too similar.

The whole thing just felt like the diary of a young woman struggling with her sexual identity.

Not only was the content unappealing, but the writing made it hard to want to finish.
