A wonderful, magical tale reminiscent of Charlotte's Web (the magical feeling of summer), and the wonderfully transporting descriptions like The Little House on the Prairie series. I loved reading this book and now see where The Penderwick's author got her inspirations. This book is a great literary escape with deep, rich vocabulary and quirky, neat characters. I am hopeful to read the sequel.
