What you think is going to be a book about a one day experience before a girl starts college, actually turns into a year long quest for self and friendships and what she really wants to do with her life.

I love that the book became about so much more than a fling or a boy. Allyson really grows throughout the book and you see her mature and discover what's really important to her. You watch as her friendships change and new friendships emerge. We see her realize she has misjudged people and we see her become a braver person.

Dee and Grandma are two of my favorite characters. Each of them bring out something and give something to Allyson that is very important to her growth.

There is a sequel to this book that tells Willem's story and I'm very excited to read it.
