The Push
by Ashley Audrain
Wow, this is intense, emotional, heartbreaking, and more.
It's told through second person so that still takes getting used to for me. Blythe becomes a mother and can't connect with her daughter. She definitely has some postpartum depression but I feel it is more than that. I feel she also suffers from psychological trauma from her own childhood and mother issues (which we get to see some glimpses of.... As well as Blythe's mom's mom and they relationship) It's a lot to pack into this book.
She also has a son later that she's immediately connected to. She feels with strange and disturbing things she may or may not see her daughter do and she feels alone because others think she's just seeing things that aren't there.
There is tragedy in this book and some very surprising moments. My jaw was on the floor at the end
