Into the Still Blue
by Veronica Rossi
Everything about this book...I loved but I was such a major fan from the very start it would take a lot for me to hate or even dislike anything about this series, the characters or the author.
One of the best things about the Under the Never Sky series is the lack of a love triangle. It is so refreshing. It seems that ever since Twilight hit the big shelves, it's been a compulsory thing to have a love triangle that can often turn fans against each other in their love for certain characters. We're an intense lot, us bookworms!
But instead, Rossi gave us the passionate love between Perry and Aria, and a sweeter protective love between Roar and Aria. Roar and Aria are so suited to each other, they balance each other out but in a sibling way, not as lovers. They are both Dark and beautiful and I actually thought for a long time Roar could be Aria's biological brother, I hoped for it but I suppose in the end they don't need the biological link, they are Aud siblings and best friends. There was never anyone else for Aria but Perry and vice versa. There was never any doubts and it was lovely.
I often wish for things to end really well and fine and dandy and though this ending was close to fine and dandy, the Tides and Horns still have a long way to go in building up Cinder. They still don't know what could happen. It makes me wish for another book...or a novella (hint, hint Rossi!) just so we can see how things are going.
The losses struck me harder than I thought they would. I felt like someone had punched me whenReef and Gren were gunned down. Reef had become a constant, conscience like voice. It was awful to see him killed in such a merciless...dweller like way by Sable. As for Cinder, up until the last page I was waiting for someone to find him, barely alive...but alive..it breaks my heart that he really did become a martyr. Tragic.
I demand more!! I can't handle it, no-more Perry and Aria and Roar and even Soren! I love this series!!
