I found it hard to get over her casually throwing in transphobia, slut-shaming, pushing gender conformation and shaming women for not wanting to have kids; I'd expect someone so critical of North Korea's suppression of individuality and freedom to be more self-aware. There's a distinct air of 'better than' and 'smarter than' coming off Park in this book.

Her views seem very narrow-minded and one-sided and she lacks the ability to see any nuance to many situations. She constant dissing of problems such as sexism in the US or animal cruelty as irrelevant as North Korean women have worse problems is disappointing. Full of lies such as it's 'the left' trying to ban books in the US.

The poor writing leads to some sentences be completely repeated in different sections.

It's a shame as she has a lot of important things to say in her criticism of China and it's global control.
