The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
5.0

This book is about revenge.

I love it.
Edmond Dantes has been wronged by so many people, he was naive, young, and weak. After he got falsely accused of being a traitor to his King and country and got imprisoned, Dante plotted his revenge. At first of course he was resigned to his faith, but after years and years he finally grew some spine and did what he had to do. He escaped his prison, he changed his name, he got rich as hell and then he met the people who wronged him in the past, befriended them, and when the time was right he either ruined them / killed them / made them kill themselves. An incredibly satisfying read, in my opinion. Very slow paced in the beginning but it ended brilliantly.
