From the start, this book was intense.

I loved this book because it was open and honest and because it was an own voices author it real and moving. What I appreciate about this book is that it had the deep conversations that books in the past and sometimes even now gloss over. You get to see how quickly Ben was forced to grow up and learn with them and it was heartbreaking and beautiful. Ben's character arc and the writing had me in it from start to finish. Nathan was also just a wonderful character.

I loved it.
