Girl Abroad
by Elle Kennedy
Elle Kennedy can do no wrong and I’ve never read a book of hers that I didn’t love, but I was a little hesitant because this one has a love triangle and usually those just end up annoying me. I should’ve never worried for a minute though because the author knows exactly what she’s doing and she made me absolutely love a love triangle trope, like how?! The premise was also really fun, Abbey is heading to London for a college year abroad because she wants to live her life on her own terms for the first time. She was raised by a single father who is a retired rockstar and he was a wild child so he went full blown overprotective mode with his little girl. The only reason he is somewhat ok with her leaving is they both believe she’s gonna be roommates with three girls but whoops, it’s actually three boys. Besides that there’s a lot more that I loved going on here, you have the love triangle between Abbey and her roommate Jack and a musician, Nate, and a mystery running throughout the entire book. Abbey is doing a research project for school and that ended up being a fun subplot that I really enjoyed. All of the secondary characters were an amazing addition to an already fun read, from her roommates Jamie and Lee to Mr. Baxley who works in the library she uses for research, I adored them all. If you like some spicy romance, witty banter, cute men with accents, coming of age stories, found family, love triangle done right and travel I think you’ll love this!
