johnsj01 's review for:
Tylko sprawiedliwość
by Bryan Stevenson
So many emotions during this book. I have always been against the death penalty and this book highlights why. To say our "justice" system needs a lot of work is understatement, but Bryan Stevenson is out there doing the work and allowing people to hope.
"Walter's case had taught me that the death penalty is not about whether people deserve to die for the crimes they commit. The real question of capital punishment in this country is, do we deserve to kill?" The state should not be in the business of killing people.
"We have a choice. We can embrace our humanness, which means embracing our broken natures and the compassion that remains our best hope for healing. Or we can deny our brokenness, forswear compassion, and, as a result, deny our humanity."
