A Conjuring of Assassins by Cate Glass
3.0

Magic, assassins, and political intrigue ensue in the sequel to An Illusion of Thieves. The story picks up right where the first one finished, with Romy and her friends given a new job that involves them infiltrating an assassination plot and retrieving a secret list. We are also introduced to a new character, Teo who is covered in markings and has magical powers, who stumbles into Romy’s life. The story was a good read but it just didn’t pack as much of a punch as the first book did. I was interested in learning more about Romy’s abilities but the plot dragged on with the whole political aspect and I just found myself a bit more bored, I was interested in Romy and Teo’s abilities and the mystery that surrounds them though.
