His Treat by Penelope Bloom
3.0

That feeling you get when someone ironically pulls out a basket full of puppies. That is the best way to describe the energy of this book. Mix that with a dash of belly laughs from the best buds on some tween show getting into hijinks and you will understand how adorably wholesome this story was.

This is not a panty melting story. It is one of chasing dreams, making sacrifices, finding compromises, and having a gang of quirky rich friends that enable you to get away with shit that would land normal people in prison.

Ryan overall reminded me of the nice jock from the teen rom com. A Freddie Prince if you will. He was so sweet and insecure. Nothing alpha about him though. Not even a teeny tiny alpha moment. WHICH is fine... not all romantic leads need to be alphas... I suppose. Overall he was a genuine likable guy.

My ONLY disappointment is that, in a previous book he dropped due to low blood sugar. It was said he does that from time to time and just pops up like it was no big deal. I was waiting for that moment in this book which is HIS story and it never happened. I feel like this was an opportunity missed.

Emily... sweet, kind hearted, forgiving, Emily. I can't say that there was anything memorable about her. She wasn't unique or funny. But I LOVED her drive. It was nice to see that there was open communication and that she stayed the course.

All of their merry friends were funny and carried most of the story. If I watched this in a movie theatre I'm sure I would walk away talking about Kevin Hart and Rebel Wilson and not even remember the name of the actress who played Emily. Sorry not sorry. Had it not been for the friend antics this book could have gone south fast. Thankfully that did not happen.

HUGE shout out to the author for breaking the pattern from the previous books in the series. FATE was the only antagonist, I appreciated that there was no jealous ex or unhinged stalker, as I said above this wasn't panty melting but it had it's moments and I'm glad that there wasn't a big focus on either parties sexual experience or inexperience like first two.

This was a cute, heartwarming, made for TV story.
