The Oracles: My Filipino Grandparents in America
by Pati Navalta Poblete
emotional
slow-paced
I loved learning about the Oracles and their experience in the US, but the way the main character acted was so heartbreaking to me. How she was so resentful of her roots, and happily rebelled against it until she got older was terrible. I appreciate seeing this perspective though, but I certainly had no good feelings towards her even at the end of the book when she had grown up. I would have loved to learn more about the lives the Oracles lived instead, but I understand this was all in the perspective of the main character.
Minor: Drug use
