This book quite surprised me. I don’t know what I expected it to be but it wasn’t that and I quite enjoyed it. I now have a name for a genre I love to read but had nearly forgotten about, romantic gothic. There was this one Scooby Doo book like this I used to read every day as a kid but it took Mexican Gothic to make me remember it.

It wasn’t quite a five star for me but it was a solid four. In the middle-end I was horrified and thrilled that I was horrified by what I was reading. Delightfully creepy. “Open your eyes”.
