Night of the Living Rez by Morgan Talty
5.0

4.5 ⭐️ Night of the Living Rez is a beautiful and unique interconnected short story collection that follows the main character David across his life span within a Native community in Maine.

Written in first person POV, this book felt more like a novel with each story being a chapter of David’s life. However, it is not told in chronological order with some stories being when he was 12 and others when he is a older man.

Told in 12 different stories, we follow David who has a difficult upbringing living with his mom, her boyfriend, and his sister who struggles with drug dependency. We learn about them as well as other people in David’s life as the stories develop.

The author did such a good job with building each story up that by the end you feel so connected to the main character and his experience. I almost loved every story, which is rare for me.

This was a great book! That I definitely recommend!
