Oh boy. Let me say to start off, I loved this storyline. It was great. What was not great was the editing of this book. I know I had an ARC but the structure of this story was all over the place. There were huge continuity issues, as well as info dumps galore. It also proceeded at a break neck pace. The only reason I soldiered through was because of the story. With a massive edit, this could've been great. Unfortunately it wasn't.
Ame is an okay character, but how we're introduced to her, and how she actually is, is two completely different people.
Maddox at least is consistent.
The supporting characters are great as well, even if the whole Liza/Grandma thing is totally random. Again though, it could work if edited and structured well.

And finally, this: "...and yeah, I fucking hurt you during sex, wanna know why?... because I want to fucking kill you but it's the only time I can hurt you without it being abuse."
I can't even with this. Is she serious? Abuse is abuse, it doesn't matter when, where, why or how. I get Amo is dark but this is far beyond the realm of acceptability that I am repulsed I actually read it.

In short, this book could've been great. It's not.
