In Every Mirror She's Black
by Lọlá Ákínmádé Åkerström
This book was immersive and was intrigued by the culture, festivals, and food. It was interesting to see the characters from their own point of view and from the quick interactions they’ve had with the other characters.
I expected one or two of their stories to end some kind of way but not that way! Like my heart and oh shit I want to know more and hope it all works out. This is a good book for black women considering moving to a Scandinavian or European country. I appreciated the author putting in her experiences…At the end, I just sat there looked at my boyfriend and said “We (black folks- weather you’re American, African, Caribbean, etc) can’t get a break can we?” And as one story shows you can with stipulations and if we you play along with majority.
