How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them
by Jason Stanley
dark
informative
What normalization does is transform the morally extraordinary into the ordinary. It makes us able to tolerate what was once intolerable by making it seem as if this is the way things have always been.
Seamlessly weaving different fascist movements throughout the world, Stanley lays before us what is essentially the fascism playbook: how anti-intellectualism, sexual panic and dehumanization have been used time after time to turn the masses against population.
A solid starting point, and very important read in these dark times, as sometimes understanding a precedent serves as solace. Information is power, and they want you ignorant.
