The Sword of Summer
by Rick Riordan
Yet another Riordan book that's made it into my very favourites. I loved The Sword of Summer, even though the plot was very similar to his other series, because it combined Norse mythology (one of my favourites to red about) with great characters and a fun story. As is usual in his books, Riordan tackles grim and serious issues (such as homelessness and being rejected from your family for being deaf, amongst others) in his usual light tone, which just adds an extra layer to this book.
The first time I read it I missed the similarities between Magnus and Percy, but I see them now. I'm not entirely against them to be honest, since there are significant differences between the two. Magnus is hardly just a blond, Norse Percy Jackson if you ask me.
