This felt like a Latinx fairytale. It was gorgeous and magical. It was pretty slow-paced however. I didn't mind that much, but I didn't realize it was the first in a series. My main reason for not giving more stars was that the writing was kind of choppy at times. Dialogue tags were often confusing, and I had to reread to figure out who was speaking. There were also several plot holes that irked me, especially in the later parts of the book. I think the novel just needed another macro edit and micro scrub down and would have been an even more wonderful read! As it is though, I would recommend it and definitely will be preordering book 2! (Also you should follow the author's TikTok because she's hilarious.)
