This book took me a lot longer than it usually would but I was listening to an Audiobook of another book at the same time, and I was more concentrated on it than on this book.

At the beginning, I thought this book was good but nothing amazing. As I got further on I enjoyed it even more! I really liked this book but it is still only getting 4 stars as it was not one of my favourite as I do tend to find Contemporary more boring and predictable than Fantasy, Dystopian or my other favourite genres.

Writing:
I really enjoy Morgan Matson's style of writing and the two book I have read from her there was that little bit extra. In this book, it was the scrapbook pages and music playlists and in The unexpected Everything, it was pieces of another story written by a character. I love that added little piece that makes the story come alive.

Plot:
The plot was fun and at the same time upsetting at times. I'm not going to say any more than what the Goodreads Synopsis says. So, with the loss of her father and the constant reminders of him, Amy is fighting a battle with herself and seeing her go through this, you just have to feel for her. Roger also has dramas of his own, but together they make it across the country and the story finishes on a good note, which is good as the book is a stand alone, so the book ended nicely.

Characters:
I really enjoyed both Roger and Amy's characters. They were both interesting and also relatable at times.
Amy was well written and felt so real, she was relatable and she was a character that you got happy for as she pushed through her struggles.
Roger was a character you felt for as he seemed so innocent and you could relate and understand what he was going through with his ex.

Overall:
It was a really enjoyable read and not as light as most of the Contemporary books I have read, have been. This was nice to have something a little bit different as I am still only new to getting into the contemporary genre!
