Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham
5.0

Dreamland Burning is a book I will highly recommend to others.

Our story starts with a teenager named Rowan, whose family is having construction done on their property. Right away, the construction workers find a skeleton.

From there, the story is told in alternating viewpoints-- Rowan's (in present time) and William's (a teenager during the Tulsa riot of 1921). We learn about those moments in Tulsa, the hatred that led to that disastrous event, and how some of those issues are still here in the present almost 100 years later.

Latham does well keeping the story moving, making you feel for these two teenagers, and giving you every detail when it comes to the mystery of finding out who the skeleton belonged to.
