This is a tough review for me to write. There were some parts of this book that I really connected with and it was helpful to read. However, overall I did struggle to get through it. Part of it is a style preference, but overall I had some major content issues. First, there were so many things that I felt like the author tried to pass off as “hers” that are quotes or stories or thoughts I’ve read or heard elsewhere.... but there was no mention of where they came from. Second, I felt a lot of the passages were body shaming, so many of her thoughts or things to fix etc. centered around eating and not being overweight. There’s even a horrible quote about how animals aren’t overweight only pets are overweight and you aren’t a pet blah blah blah. I found it pretty insulting. There is also a clear disconnect between the author and the general public. There was so much talk about things that I couldn’t even imagine having the finances for and I just don’t think she ever properly made the connection that her wealth has absolutely attributed to the habits she’s been able to make. And to be honest, so much of the book felt like humble brag after humblebrag. I wanted a chapter on ways to increase my confidence. Ways to feel comfortable taking up space. Ideas on how to built my self esteem. And instead I got a chapter on her boob job and several pages of her defending her choice to do so.... I don’t need that. And I don’t understand why we would choose to make the foundation of the chapter on confidence to be centered around outside appearance. She even makes a comment in the chapter that it’s problematic, but proceeded to publish it anyway? I don’t get it.

It was a struggle for me to get through this book, but there were some small lessons in it. I did enjoy Part 1, but honestly wish it would’ve stopped there.
