Updated Review:
I apparently did not actually retain the beginning or end of this book in my long term memory, just the premise and the middle bits. Because I had written a completely different meeting at the beginning, followed by completely yeeting that ending into the abyss
SpoilerLike up until the end I was 100% certain I remembered them getting out of the city.

I adore the dynamic and banter between Eris and Sona. I previously classified this as enemies to lovers. The beginning roles fall more certainly within Unexpected Allies.

Consider this book if you also enjoy Todoroki/Bakugou (My Hero Academia) fan fiction, because the dynamic is incredibly similar to how they are depicted in fanon.

Original Review from August 2021:
I have never found interest in Mecha as an anime genre. But boy, does it hit different as a written work.

I had a hell of a time putting this book down. Both because it was jarring to leave the world Zoe Hana Mikuta has built, but also because you're constantly on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. There are no stops on this train, and you must be ready for the long haul.

It's GAY! and it slaps! Literally, since it is Enemies to Lovers.
