I generally enjoyed this slice of life, and my biggest complaint is that it wasn't nearly as heartwarming as it advertises itself as. In fact, I dare say the book got me teary eyed once or twice.

There were bullying, and sexual harassment and abusive fathers, and neglectful mothers, and there were insecure people who were so insecure they were dooming themselves to misery instead of chasing after the person they had fallen in love with.

It wasn't heartwarming, lighthearted, or cozy. Which was a big disappointment. But, it was a delightful read regardless of that. I enjoyed the magic, I enjoyed the cooking, I enjoyed seeing people grow and become better people. It also had a few chuckle worthy moments.
