this book is a bit of a strange mixture and not at all for everyone.

firstly for a contemporary it’s actually very dark and focuses a lot dark topics -death, suicide, sister relationships, grief and moving on, addiction, stalking- and a lot of other things.

i really enjoyed some aspects of the book.
the characters are unapologeticly human in the way that they do stupid things, don’t like things, act out and do things they shouldn’t do but act on emotions.
so that was very well done because it’s very realistic.
and it doesn’t matter if it’s the main characters or the side characters - they all behave very human, just mostly leaning towards the darker side.

i did like that the book didn’t just talk about consent in the sense of sex -through that’s a part too, about how much especially people with any kind of illness are able to consent- but also consent plays into decisions every day. from what you wear to what other take from you, consent is and should be considered everyday and in all aspects of life.
but at the same time while the title makes sense to me, the topic isn’t talked about in a way that makes it feel as if the author tried to bash the readers head in about what she had to say about the topic.

i didn’t really love that it felt a bit like the author tried to be very provocative in some situations.
especially with the sexual moments that were mentioned, it felt a bit too much as if the author tried to show something.
but also with the addictions, it felt a bit too much sometimes.

and that says a lot, i think, for a book that’s under 300 pages.

i think this book is one of those that you either find interesting because of it’s strangeness and provocative  view and story telling OR you really dislike the book because of all the over the top dark and twisty characters and their strange connections and behaviors.
