Her Dark Wings
by Melinda Salisbury
emotional
lighthearted
fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
Loveable characters:
Complicated
I absolutely devoured the first half of this book. It’s so easy to read and paced really well.
Potentially spoilery:
Though it’s well written, I at times found Corey to be quite contradictory in her attitude/personality/aging. She’s so so angry and so vengeful about Bree. I know she betrayed her and cheated on her but her constantly wishing for her death felt over dramatic and at times immature.
Because of this Corey felt quite young (and is mentioned several times is still in school), this then leads me into the 2nd half in which she is miraculously more mature, mature enough to decide to leave the human world behind (and her dad is weirdly ok with her leaving?).
Overall at times it felt a little superficial and inconsistent with her maturity and outlook.
The romance element with Hades felt a bit superficial and underdeveloped too.
Overall a fun and easy read. I just wanted more especially in terms of character and relationship development.
To be fair, I read an early copy so there may be changes after another edit that I didn’t read!
