Terribly unpleasant in all ways. Overwritten, pretentious, obnoxiously trying to both participate in the school shooting conversation and deliberately turn away from it. Populated by the least likable people you might ever read about. Tedious and boring.

I do feel that the last 100 pages or so do amount to a bit of a saving grace; at least within them we see a slight bit of character development, as well as some much-needed action. It's terribly unpleasant action, of course, but at least it's not a pages-long list of all the features of Eva's dream house.
