Okay, super excited to finally be reading this series! It took me a bit to really get into this book as the beginning starts off fairly slow and is more centered around the politics of the world which is something I’m typically interested in however in this book it feels like we are missing a lot of the pieces to really understand the politics. I definitely felt lost at times trying to keep up with who is the leader of what and would’ve benefited from a guide (probably going to buy a journal for notes like these because of this lol). Now I lovvveeed the world and the characters. Orka? THAT IS MY GIRL!! I adore her so so much and always looked forward to every one of her chapters. Her journey is by far my favorite. I do also love Elvar and enjoyed seeing Varg even though at times I just wanted to tell him to chill out and things take time. I like though that we are following these 3 characters that are on their journey but you can see the set up of how their journeys will intersect later on. Some other good things in this book: if you like a fight scene this book is for you, I’ve literally never read better fight scenes than these! We’ve also got some found family going on here which I love! I can only see this series getting better from here on!
