I actually really liked this book, I thought the story was interesting and I enjoyed all of the characters, but I found the grammatical errors so frustrating that I’m only giving it 3 stars. The author clearly has a large vocabulary, which she makes use of almost to the point of verbosity, but she is sorely in need of a good editor. I mean, makes should not have an apostrophe despite the prolific use of one throughout the book. There are also numerous instances of homophones being used incorrectly (taught instead of taut, for example), or simply the wrong word. So many things are hyphenated that shouldn’t be, and I don’t know if it’s the font or editing but they all display as longer dashes which I also found distracting. With proper editing I would give this a strong 4+.
