Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore
4.0

I know, I know....Isabel rates a McLemore book below five stars? What happened?

Nothing, really. I have no single explanation for why I didn’t love this one as much as the others I’ve read. But I have a few nitpicks.

1) Miscommunication as a plot device is something I hate, and this book has a good amount of it. If everyone sitting down and just explaining themselves would solve all of your conflict, I get annoyed by it.
2) I didn’t mind the four POVs but switching between them every ~3 pages is too much.
3) I adored the adults in Wild Beauty and especially in When the Moon was Ours, and for some reason the grandmothers in this book just didn’t do it for me in the same way.

All this to say I still really enjoyed it. Just...not as much as their other stuff.
