Super Bloom
by Megan Tady
funny
lighthearted
medium-paced
This book was just super fun all around. We follow Joan who works at a spa as a massage therapist but she's not enjoying the work really and her boss is on the brink of firing her. Then she gets a client Carmen bronze who is a romance author who is stuck and needs some inspiration. They strike up a deal where Joan will give dirt on the industry that she's in and Carmen will write a book out of it.
I love that this helped remind Joan of her real love of writing. I thought it was so funny that she started writing her book in the middle of doing the work for Carmen. Carmen is just this whirlwind of chaos I thought and she was just funny.
I really got a kick out of Joan's parents. Them having to downsize their living space and all the stuff that her mom has accumulated and tries to pawn off on Joan and her friend are just so bizarre.
What a great debut!
