Whisper Network
by Chandler Baker
The Whisper Network is a novel whose time has definitely come. I loved it and couldn’t put it down. It is told first from the perspective of women in general and then in the voice of each of the main characters. It teaches a chilling lesson of how inappropriate actions and words in the work place are often ignored, excused or justified because of pure greed or of potential harm to a career or a friendship. The lives of four women, all in-house lawyers for a large sports apparel company, will never be the same after the company CEO dies suddenly and they find out the general counsel, Ames Garrett, is slated to be promoted to CEO. For years there were whispers about Ames’s treatment of women but nothing was ever openly talked about until the women decide, finally, that enough is enough. And then someone dies!
