The Help by Kathryn Stockett
5.0

There is not much that I can say about this book. You really have to read it to get the whole meaning and message of the story. The Help wasn't just a story about the awful racism in the 1960s, but about the friendships and bonds that the people of all colors made with each other. The help was all a family, and then there were few, like Miss Skeeter, who was family with them too. Miss Skeeter's character really took a turn for the better when she decided to right the book about the maids. She began to see that the life she was living with Miss Hilly and Miss Leefolt wasn't what she was meant to be, and that touched me. You could tell that she really cared about them and wanted to help better their lives. She took a great risk writing the book, but she was willing to take it which showed something big about her character. Overall, this was one of the best books that I've read this year, and even though it doesn't fit in the YA category, I think that everyone should read it. I give it 5 stars!
