This book was very plot forward, solidly in the bonkers fun zone. It's set in 1100 but the characters act a little bit like they're living in the 1980s. Jamie, the FMC, was really fun to read and there were a lot of running gags that were quite funny. Alec, the MMC, basically just lived to push Jamie's buttons and vice versa.
Ultimately this was far sweeter and funnier than I hoped but it was also a little frenetic. As far as consent, I felt like it was very comfy, it's a marriage of convenience but there's no bodice ripping or forced seduction. Jamie has a lot of agency and she is kind of a badass.
