I liked this one a little bit more than the first one because of the steadfast behavior of Count Olaf. That man was persistent and I was unsure if he would appear again in the story so soon. But I think his character really lends itself to the unfortunate events. Above all, he is THE unfortunate event. Every time I think that he will get caught and punished for his devious acts, something saves him. I don't think he will rest until he gets what he wants. His greed his bigger than life itself.
These kids are super smart ad determine to not let Count Olaf get away with his shenanigans. I was sadden by the constant loss that the children had to face but as they say "children are more resilient" than we adults think they are. Or maybe I am trying to hope for the best like I hope for best with Hazel in the Saga series.
I want to keep going. I am hooked in the story. I am going to try to watch the Netflix adaptation after reading this series.
Again, my younger self would have loved these books. Don't worry younger self, older/adult self got you! Book three here we come!
