The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan
5.0

The Demon's Lexicon is a world full of demons and the magicians who call upon them. Nick and Alan Ryves are brothers and for all of Nick's life, they have been running from the magicians hunting them (basically all of the magicians in the UK). Nick doesn't care about anyone except for Alan, and he would do anything to help his brother and Alan will do anything to save Nick - so when Alan insists on helping two teenagers who come to them for help with a demon's mark, they get dragged along for the adventure as the Ryves brothers try to end their feud with the magicians once and for all and Nick ends up finding a lot of truths about himself.

I love, love, love this book. It's the book that made me fall in love with Sarah Rees Brennan's writing and I will always be thankful to my past self for picking it up in the Borders closing down sale! Nick is just everything you shouldn't want in a character and a guy but everything you end up loving. He is dark, and cruel with a violent edge and he really does not feel any sympathy and love for anyone. However he is smart, quick and witty and I just love his one-liners!

I love the introduction to the magicians, demons and Goblin Market in this book, and it really does promise so much to come. I can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy in close succession as the first time around there were large gaps between the books and I think this effected my reading a bit. Alan is just a sugarmuffin and deserves all the love in the world and Jamie is the cutest and Mae is kick-ass. I really recommend this book for people who are fans of The Moral Instruments or Unbreakable by Kami Garcia. It has magic, love and hot guys with swords YEP!
