The Wife Upstairs
by Rachel Hawkins
Jane Eyre in modern times. I was surprised that we got to hear from a certain someone's perspective early on.
Jane is a bit naive. She meets Eddie and gets engaged after 6 months. Now I know that things can work out, but I feel she wanted a little more than Eddie. She wanted the lifestyle he has and the money. Sure, she loved him in her way but I feel it was more than that.
They send like the perfect for though. Both Jane and Eddie knew what they wanted and they manipulated their way into that mold they wanted to fit.
The ending was a bit like - choose your own adventure. Do you take it as is or take another path that the author didn't?
I listened to this and I usually listen at 2.0 speed....I had to bump this up to 2.8 for it to sound normal to me! I did not like the way "the Stepford Wives" as I heard a friend call them (the women Jane tried to impress) sounded.... Too whiny and I'm glad they didn't get a lot of talk time.
