Saga, Volume 9 by Brian K. Vaughan
5.0

Why do I do this to myself? Why do I read these right before bed? To have nightmares? To make me cry? To hurt my soul? WHY!?

So this picks up right after volume 8. Our favorite band of fugitives is still on the run but this time the bounty has made the very vicious squid looking lady who's been torturing the Will to come to the planet where Marko, Alina, and the rest have landed. What starts out as a family bonding volume quickly changes to a cat and mouse game, high stakes, and a lot of death. Should I have expected anything less? And now a year wait? Fuck me...

Good: Everything. Without spoilers...the deaths are impactful (come on, you know there's going to be deaths) the art is always stunning, the emotional family bits are amazing, the dialog is on point, and...it brings an emotion I don't get from most things. Just wonderfully done.

Bad: Nothing.

Saga remains the BEST comic series out right now. While Deadly Class is my favorite action series, Saga hits emotions for me like no other. A 6 out of 5.
