Our Dark Duet
by V.E. Schwab
— 4.5 stars —
What an amazing ending to this duology. I got all the feels for everyone and it left me heartbroken, but I loved it.
The only thing I kinda missed was the Wardens. I wanted to see a tiny bit more of them, I hoped to see them come toward the end, but nope. This is the only thing that was missing for me, hence the -0.5 stars. I mean, yes they weren’t there for so long, and I didn’t really got attached to them (except for Riley, I really started to like him!), but I kinda like their relationship with Kate, and how these new people made her think. Whether she liked it or not, she got attached to them.
Other than that, I loved every single little thing.
The aspect that I adored the most was Kate and August. August is so precious, I love him. But what I particularly appreciated is how they were both developed. I didn’t mind them not being a thing (even though I shipped it hard). Their friendship was more than enough. Nonetheless, I was happy to see them kiss and to see how August discovered something new about his Sunai's powers. I guess the fact that they found each other helped them in a way no one could have.
I loved Ilsa and I loved Soro too: I was a bit skeptical about him at the beginning (well, and all through the book to be honest), afraid that he would turn out to be another Leo. But I was happily surprised and I actually really enjoyed his relationship with August, especially towards the end.
I adored the writing, the world and the characters. It was action-packed, but still really emotional at times.
I would 100% recommend this duology and I will definitely read some of V.E Schwab's other books in the future.
