Oh Crulden, where do I begin? This poor himbo is held captive as a gladiator, and he is not feeling very compliant with his masters. When they send a human slave to his prison cell to clean up after his temper tantrum, he finds the will to obey…if they will give him Mina. Now, Mina is not exactly compliant either. She does the bare minimum to fly under the radar so maybe one day she can escape her alien captors, and having the attention of the most infamous gladiator on the planet isn’t good for her plans. 

Mina and Crulden are very sweet together as they learn about one another and attempt to make the best of a terrible situation. She provides grounding and comfort for the gladiator who is disoriented from being in stasis for 5yrs, and he gives her safety. I enjoyed their journey from hate to love, and seeing peeks of other societies within the IPB universe was fun too! This book was full of Ruby’s trademark humor and snark, and plenty of steam to balance the anxiety of Mina and Crulden’s situation. I was rooting for these two the whole time, and really enjoyed their story.
