If this book proves anything, it's that genre biographies should be a thing. I really enjoyed this book, it just wasn't good enough to be one of my all-time favourites. I love reading biographies, I've read quite a few now and still have more on my TBR, but while they are compelling stories, they often times lack a plot. I love plot heavy books, and unfortunately this was not one of them. It's a very character driven book with very compelling characters and it really hooked me, but I did not find myself enjoying it in the way I have for other books. Evelyn is such an interesting character and there is no way this book could have worked outside of a biography/memoir formula.

I love that Evelyn owned up to everything she did. She knows where she went wrong and she knows she'd do it all over again for the fame because she knows herself. It's refreshing to see. I haven't read many characters who are honest in the way Evelyn is as she is telling her story. It makes it feel all the more real and remarkable. I think there should be more genre biographies because they allow us to explore interesting characters in a way a plot-heavy book cannot and I appreciate that.

I still highly recommend it to anyone looking for a character driven book about how far is too far to get what we want.
