He Loves Me Not Book One
by Carmen Rosales
He Loves Me Not" by Carmen Rosales is a story about Rubi and Ky, two kids who meet at the age of 11 from opposite sides of the tracks. Rubi is living a life with an addict mother, while Ky comes from a wealthy single-parent family. They are separated when Rubi is tossed into foster care, only to be reunited seven years later. Rubi is forced to live with her father after getting into her fair share of trouble. Little does she know, her father is doing well for himself, and soon she will be attending the same school as the boy she lost long ago.
This is book 1 in a duo, and I can confidently say that this author pulled on all my heartstrings. The character development in this book is what has me hooked right now. Rubi's character is complex due to her upbringing, but Ky is on a whole different level. He is not a walking red flag; he is a bright red billboard on the highway. The author does a great job of storytelling, filling us in on everything we need to know and when we need to know it. The author's writing style is smooth, making it a fast read, and I am more than ready for part 2.
