anniesbooks 's review for:
Unconventional
by Maggie Harcourt
3,5
Characters:
Lexi Angelo, daughter of a relatively famous convention manager, builds her live around these conventions and lets everything else slide
Aidan Green, author of a bestseller under the pseudonym "Haydn Swift"
Themes: questioning priorities in life, father-daughter relationship, divorced parents (mother in lesbian relationship), being in love with someone famous and public,
Cover: nice blue tone with a queue of people
Author: never read before
Setting: in a hotel at several conventions with big gaps in between
POV: 1st Person -> Lexi
Liked: setting, romance, Sam and Lexi's friendship,
Did not like: Aidan and Haydn being described by Lexi as two different people, Lexis character and her stupidity sometimes :D
It was a quick and fluffy contemporary read. The obsessing and fangirling about an author was especially relatable. Sometimes I thought there was some kind of "dancing around it all". Like get your shit together it's not that hard. :D But I liked it. I especially liked the writing - it just spoke to me.
