I liked the beginning and the end, but the middle was a bit boring to me and drawn out. because this is historical fiction based in medieval times it felt like reading a classic novel that goes tries going against gender norms for women. the russian folklore is cool.
i did not realize this was a series. i will like not read the rest. im not big on historical fiction or classics and so at times it was a bit off-putting to me. there are also some grotesque scenes and uncomfortable scenes.
good for others, just not my jam.
