The Line Between, Volume 1: A Thriller
by Tosca Lee
Let me just start out by saying that for the first 50 pages, I was confused out of my mind because this was a new style of writing to me. I did want to give up but I pushed my way through. I am super fucking glad I did. I love this book.
The writing style is different, mainly because Tosca Lee writes this story by going from present times to the past with really no indication until the second to fifth line of the chapter. The first dew chapters are obviously in the present since Wynter is being shunned out of New Earth.
When Wynter meets Julie and Lauren, I almost about cried since Julie told her that she tried to get Wynter's mother, Sylvia, to stay in society and no go to New Earth because they were best friends. I could just tell that Julie thought it was her fault that her best friend died of cancer that could have been treated by chemotherapy.
Once it starts going into detail about what this disease/plague is, I was captivated. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
When Jackie knocks on Wynter's door, I was confused, to say the least. It made me really heartbroken that one of the only surviving members of their family was infected with the disease and would not be able to survive. I love how it progresses the storyline but man that was a heartbreaker.
Once Wynter gets on the road in the Lexus, I knew that the guy in the Jeep would come into play. And man, I was not let down. As soon as Chase came into play, I knew that his development would be amazing. His and Wynter's relationship sprang as soon as they met. I loved it from the beginning.
The entire book to me was amazing and written perfectly. It is easily one of my favourite reads of 2019.
