If there was simultaneous audio recording as I listened to this book it would just be a bunch of squaking and high pitch squeaks 🦅

As a woman in stem, thank you Ali for continuing to fuel my delusions of having a whirlwind romance, but also that maybe that one night stand is still thinking about me every minute of every day 😌✨

Ali had made a post a couple weeks ago with the disclaimer that Not in Love was more akin to “an erotic romance, with angstier themes” as opposed to her previous adult romances, which were more on the romcom side. And damn was she right about that!! Definitely the 🌶️-est of her books thus far.

We’ve got a whole lot of smut sprinkled in with a little bit of business drama and IP fuckery *shudders in grad student*, and needless to say I was thoroughly entertained. While I don’t know if I entirely buy Eli’s love-at-first-sight with Rue (it’s walking the line of insta-love with is one of my least favourite tropes), and I needed a bit more of Rue working through her “no-repeats” rule breaking & the loyalty issue before falling back into bed with Eli, I can move past that given the things that come out of that mans mouth.

This was especially pertinent when listening to the audiobook and having the male narrator read these ✨phrases✨ out loud to me. If you’re an audiobook person, I 11/10 recommend that experience 😌. It’s dual POV, with dual narration, and my favourite thing is that the male narrator reads their dialogue during the female POV and vice versa.

It’s an Ali Hazelwood book (& I say that so lovingly because yes I will devour these every damn time), and as such I feel it is important to point out the fact that the Rue is TALL!! Tall girl representation!! Bless!! In summary, if you have enjoyed Ali’s previous books, and don’t mind have the smut dial cranked up, I think you will also enjoy this!
