The Princess Saves Herself in This One
by Amanda Lovelace
I believe this is a book for those who don't read much poetry. It is NOT poetry. But hopefully, those who haven't read read much poetry, will pick up more poetry books after reading this.
Do not get me wrong, the author's story is a deep, and painful story that should be told. So many can relate. I just think the medium isn't producing the right result. This books seems more like journal entries or Myspace status updates. Not poetry.
But who knows, maybe I am just too old for this. I could see my 14 year old self thinking this was revolutionary. It honestly reminds me of song lyrics from my emo days. I probably would have wrote lines from this across my jeans in black sharpie.
My review isn't judgement on the author's experiences-just the book itself.
*I received this book in exchange for my honest review*
